For Older People

Monday Mob is a ministry to the elderly people in the congregation and in the community. It consists of a gathering at the church every second month on Monday between 11.00am and 1.15pm where we have fellowship and friendship. The day starts with a short service of Holy Communion, followed by a shared lunch (free of charge) which is provided by a group of ladies from the church. During coffee there is a guest speaker. There is also a short session which might include some encouraging or entertaining stories. On some occasions there may be a singing group for entertainment and at Christmas it may be the children from the local primary school.

Birthdays over the weeks since we met are celebrated. Major milestone birthdays are celebrated also.

As well as these gatherings at the church the ministry to the elderly also encompasses a ministry to the house bound for any elderly person in the community and parishioners from St James who are in nursing homes. This aspect of the ministry is carried out by Archdeacon Anne Ranse and a small team of lay people.
